What Is Speed Dating?
A Love in just Minutes! speed date is a 3-minute meeting between you and one other person. The purpose of the speed date is to find out if the two of you have a possible connection. As you communicate with your dating partner, the choice is up to you as to how open and honest you actually want to be. Usually, if you want to get to know them on a more private level, you continue the speed date after the five minutes are up. Like on a one-on-one date, then you need to initiate interest and show them that you want to get to know them better.
Speed Dating Tables
There are about 10-25 tables set up in a room. These tables seat two people at a time, so you and your speed date end up facing each other over a table. Once the three minutes are up, the male goes to the next table, in an assembly line, of sorts.
Speed Date Tips
As you sit down with your speeddate and talk, ask your “date” basic questions. This guy or girl will be given an opportunity ask you basic questions, and the date is really just a short conversation. It’s all about first impressions in speed dating. Don’t get frustrated if it doesn’t work for you at first. If you don’t make a connection immediately, consider each progressive speed date as a chance to practice making a first impression.
Making a First Impression
Remember, you only have about 5 minutes, so keep things brief and short. Make sure to keep your date interested as well. Don’t get too gimmicky, but you might consider beforehand which traits and facts about yourself you want to highlight. Talk about those and avoid any topics you don’t want to discuss. Remember to ask plenty of questions about your date, to show you are interested in them.
Speed Dating Questions & Answers
Ask your date questions and really engage and interact with your partner. Get them talking. Avoid long pauses. The more information you can get in the least amount of time, the more likely the two of you make a connection. Consider what you find most important to know about a person, or what you think most highlights someone’s personality. If you think easy and light questions like “what is your favorite color?” set people at ease, you might consider simple questions. Some people suggest that you ask your speed date about their views on politics or religion, but I personally feel it’s seldom a good idea to discuss those topics. Asking someone about politics on your speed date might reveal a lot about your date, but it could also alienate a person. You might consider more neutral, but more telling, questions like family and job-related questions. These can be either positive or negative, and sometimes reveal a lot about your date. Consider questions that get people talking a lot about themselves in a short period of time.
Speed Dating Is Fun
Speed dating can be fun. If it can give you a good laugh, there’s no reason to get discouraged if you do not find a match through speed dating. So approach speed dating with a good attitude, and you’ll get the most out of your speed dating sessions.
